Ohio
Concrete Sawing and Drilling is Ohio’s premier concrete
sawing and drilling contractor. Ohio Concrete has provided
services to industry and contractors since 1981. During the
height of the construction season, the four offices located
in Ohio will complete nearly 2,000 jobs each month. Ohio Concrete
has been successful because they have always focused on meeting
the needs of their customers.
Ohio
Concrete has also made consistent efforts to stay ahead of
their industry by using the latest technology available in
the sawing and drilling industry. Recent technological improvements
include:
- Availability
of Ground Penetrating Radar to locate conduit, water and
sewer lines and reinforcing. This amazing technology is
extremely accurate and is available on short notice to any
customer requesting the service or expressing any concern
about the location of hidden utilities.
- Ohio
Concrete has the ability to saw, remove and even excavate
the sub grade using 100% electric tools. The use of electric
tools eliminates carbon monoxide fumes, reduces noise associated
with gas and diesel engines. It is safer for our own employees
and much less disruptive to ongoing operations where we
are working.
- Ohio
Concrete has constructed their own horizontal curb saws,
allowing them to quickly remove the top portion of concrete
curbs for new drive approaches. In the past this work was
much more labor intensive. We can now cut new residential
approaches in an hour.
- Whether
your job requires concrete removal, core drilling in a manhole
where we provide the boot or electric excavation we can
provide the services you need on short notice
Asphalt Sawing : Ohio Concrete
provides sawing services for asphalt contractors throughout
Ohio. We will saw the perimeter of areas you are replacing
to provide a clean edge to improve the appearance of your
repair.

Flat sawing concrete slabs is used when construction requires
only a portion of a slab to be removed. Sawing provides a
clean edge ideal for trenches for new plumbing or electrical
lines. It is also ideal when removing only damaged portions
of roadways or parking areas. Ohio Concrete currently has
the ability to saw concrete up to 30” thick.

Wall saws are used on vertical surfaces when a new doorway,
window or openings for new HVAC openings are needed. Wall
sawing allows for precise cuts in both concrete and masonry
structures. Ohio Concrete frequently saws walls up to 30”
thick from one side.

Core Drilling (

Core drilling is used when customers require circular opening
for new plumbing, fencing and electrical installations. We
have core drills in almost every diameter from ½”
up to 60” in diameter. Ohio Concrete has drilled holes
up to 120’ deep for the purpose of testing concrete
on the new bridge over the Maumee River in Toledo, Ohio.

Egress
windows:
Ohio Concrete is frequently asked to saw openings in basements
for installation of new windows. National building codes require
the installation of egress windows when converting basement
areas to living areas. Egress windows provide for an alternative
exit from the basement in the event of a fire blocking the
basement stairs. This work is normally done with a wall saw
and mini excavator.

Grooving: Concrete saws are
used to saw grooves in concrete floors for the purpose of
improving traction on slippery concrete. Different applications
require different patterns. One of the most common applications
is dairy barns.

Floor Grinding (

Diamond tools are an ideal way to smooth out bumps and trip
hazards in concrete floors. It is not unusual for adjacent
floor slabs to have slightly different elevations. Grinding
concrete with diamonds is the least expensive way to eliminate
these problems areas.

Concrete
Grouting: Injecting cement based
grouts in the best method of eliminating small voids below
concrete slabs. Injection of grout frequently will minimize
the risk of a concrete slab cracking if the ground beneath
the slab settles and fails to support the concrete. When the
new Jeep plant developed problems with an area in the plant
Ohio Concrete injected grout below the concrete through hundreds
of holes to stabilize the concrete.

Post Installation (

Ohio Concrete purchases bumper post by the hundreds for installations
throughout Ohio. We frequently will be called on to install
a few posts because we have the ability to core drill in concrete.
Several years ago we installed nearly 1,000 bumper post in
the Meijer’s warehouse in Flat Rock, Michigan. We can
normally install post on a couple of days notice since we
keep the most common sizes in our inventory.

Boot Installation in Manholes

The EPA requires water tight connections for all sewers containing
waste water. Ohio Concrete has core drilled in manholes since
they begin in 1981. For most of this time we have also provided
the rubber boots that insure a water tight connection between
the concrete manhole and the new sewer pipe. If we know what
size pipe you are installing, our operator will bring the
correct boot to your job for you to install after the hole
is cored.

Concrete
Removal (

 Along
with concrete sawing Ohio Concrete begin removing concrete
years ago. We are able to remove small quantities at the same
time we are sawing. We recently removed over 1.2 million pounds
of concrete from the University of Michigan Medical Center.
This was done using entirely electric tools. The use of electric
tools eliminated carbon monoxide fumes and minimized the  noise.
Sawing also eliminated any vibration normally associated with
concrete removal. This was important because the Medical Center
is a huge complex with nearly 5 million square feet of building,
17,000 employees and 1.5 million people a year using the facility.
It was important to complete this work without disturbing
ongoing operations.

Horizontal
Curb Cutting: These saws were
made by our own employees. They allow us to saw curbs off
horizontally to the street for new driveway approaches and
handicap ramps. A new residential drive approach can be cut
in less than one hour including tapered cuts on the ends.

Concrete has four electric excavators. These electric tools
will dig to a depth of 5 feet yet will fit through a 34”
wide doorway. We admit they look like a large Tonka toy. We
also believe they will out dig any crew of six men digging
in the hardest of sub grade materials. They are powered by
480Volt electric motors that conveniently plug into our trucks.

Penetrating Radar (

This is a brand new technology. Developed for geophysics,
it is used by the military to locate land mines. Archeologists
use this to find voids in pyramids when they are looking for
tombs. This technology will prove to be very helpful to professionals
in the construction industry. Ground
Penetrating Radar enables the technician to precisely locate
rebar, piping, conduit and sewers to a depth of ten feet.
